The J-Link SiLabs C2 Adapter allows debug connections between J-Link and the target hardware which comes with Silicon Labs C2 debug interface. It adapts from the 20-pin 0.1'' standard debug connector to a 10-pin 0.1'' connector pinout compatible with Silicon Labs evaluation boards.
VTref for J-Link
As J-Link is able to support different target voltages, it needs VTref as the reference voltage to adapt its voltage levels accordingly. Since VTref is not present on most Silicon Labs eval boards, for the C2 adapter J-Link generates VTref via J-Link's own power supply function (pin 19). J-Link will output 5V on pin 19 on the J-Link side. This is fed into the voltage regulator and divided down to 3.3V and fed back to pin 1 (VTref) on the J-Link side. For increased flexibility other target voltages in the range from 1.2 V to 5.0 V can be generated by replacing a single resistor on the C2 adapter (marked R2 in this view).
Preparing J-Link to supply power
J-Link 5V power supply on pin 19 is disabled by default. In order to enable it, J-Link needs to be configured once:
- Install the SEGGER J-Link software: Download
- Start J-Link Commander, which can be found under "Start -> Programs -> SEGGER -> J-Link ARM"
- Enter the following command: power on perm
