    Overview

    The J-Link EDU Mini is a stripped-down, budget-friendly model of the  J-Link debug probe created for educational use. Even with its reduced size, it maintains the J-Link features of fast download rates into the internal flash of supported microcontrollers and the setting of unlimited breakpoints in flash memory. 

    The J-Link EDU Mini is available to educational institutions, private persons, and students who want to educate themselves in programming and debugging of embedded systems. Find out more about SEGGER's Educational Partnership Program.

    Software

    All software is included free of charge. As a legitimate owner of a SEGGER J-Link, you can always download the latest software free of charge. Though not planned and not likely, we reserve the right to change this policy. Note that older models may not be supported by newer versions of the software. Typically, we support older models with new software at least 3 years after end of life.

    Multi-platform

    As a multi-platform solution, J-Link EDU Mini comes with the setup and control software for Linux, macOS and Windows. The MAC and Linux versions are fully usable, but limited to the following components:

    • J-Link Commander
    • Command line GDBServer
    • Shared library (DLL-equivalent)

    Software and firmware updates are included. Similarly, use on all currently supported target devices, and any that will be added, is also included.

    Licensing and support

    You may use the J-Link EDU Mini for non-profit educational purposes only! Non-profit educational purposes means that you may not use the J-Link EDU Mini and its J-Link software:

    • directly or indirectly in or for a profit organization or business purposes or other undertaking intended for profit.
    • directly or indirectly within any other commercial environment (e.g. office).
    • to develop, debug, program or manufacture a commercial product (or parts thereof).
    • to either earn money or reasonably anticipate the receipt of monetary gain from it.

    Any other use of the J-Link EDU Mini is prohibited and illegal! If there is any doubt that a certain use may be considered within the foregoing scope or whether your use of the J-Link EDU Mini applies to an educational situation, it is strongly recommended to get in touch and consult SEGGER prior to use.

    For clarification purposes: A student using the J-Link EDU Mini directly or indirectly within a business or profit organization (e.g. company) is considered a violation of the scope of this agreement.

    Flash Breakpoints

    The J-Link EDU Mini license includes the Unlimited Flash Breakpoints in flash memory feature. Developers may set an unlimited number of breakpoints in flash memory helping to debug applications that run from flash memory.
