About SEGGER Microcontroller

Who we are

For over three decades, SEGGER has combined passion and expertise to shape how embedded systems are created. Our story is one of innovation, stability, and people who believe in technology that simply works. Today, around 100 employees worldwide at SEGGER contribute to our story of innovation, stability, and technology that simply works.

Embedded systems are everywhere – they control motors, displays, and sensors in phones, cars, appliances, trains, or even spacecraft. At SEGGER, we build operating systems, software libraries, and development tools that make these systems run reliably. This is what defines us as The Embedded Experts.

What inspires us

Technology excites us because it connects ideas with reality. Meet the people behind SEGGER — curious minds who innovate because they love embedded systems.

In the video, some of our experts share what drives their passion for technology and how their ideas help shape reliable embedded solutions used around the world.

What we are known for

A close-up of a person's hands typing on a laptop, with computer code visible on the screen. An overlay features the logo for "embOS," showing the letters "OS" within a square and bordered by design elements, suggesting a focus on operating system development.

embOS RTOS

  • embOS was SEGGER’s first major product and laid the foundation for the company’s success
  • Since entering the market more than 35 years ago, it has been deployed in billions of devices
  • Designed as a high-performance real-time operating system (RTOS) with a minimal memory footprint
  • Available in several editions, including embOS-Classic, embOS-Ultra, and the safety-focused embOS-Safe

A J-Link device with a SEGGER logo is centered against a dark background featuring a circuit board with various electronic components. The device displays connection ports and buttons, emphasizing its role in programming and debugging embedded systems.

J-Link debug probes

  • Introduced to provide fast and reliable debugging for embedded systems
  • J-Links set new standards for debugging performance and usability
  • Support more than 14,000 microcontrollers
  • Enable high-speed programming and remote debugging for professional development environments

More about J-Link

An electronic flasher device labeled "Flasher" is shown above a glowing microchip on a circuit board. Light particles are depicted flowing from the flasher toward the chip, suggesting data transfer or programming activity. The background features a blue, futuristic design with lines radiating outward.

Flasher production programmers

  • Introduced for professional in-system programming as projects moved into production
  • Designed for reliable and automated programming in development and manufacturing environments
  • Support both single-unit and gang programming
  • Use high-speed programming technology to maximize production efficiency
  • SEGGER's single-unit Flasher programmer family includes the Flasher Pro, Pro XL, Compact, and Portable PLUS.

Why closed-loop development matters

Closed Loop Development Process by SEGGER

All SEGGER tools are designed to work together in a continuous development cycle. We follow a closed-loop development approach in which all products for embedded systems are continuously developed, tested, and refined within a single ecosystem.

The five core categories – Create, Build, Debug, Verify, and Program – are closely interconnected. Each stage feeds into the next, while insights gained throughout the process flow directly back into development.

This approach is driven by the consistent internal use of our own tools. Embedded software such as Embedded Studio and Ozone is used to develop, debug, and support J-Link, Flasher, embOS, and other software components within an embedded system. At the same time, J-Link and Flasher firmware is built on SEGGER software components, including embOS, emSecure, emFile, emUSB-Device, emNet, and emSSL.

What defines our standards

At SEGGER, our commitment to quality and security is embedded in structured management systems that guide our processes across the entire organization. Over many years, these systems have been established and continuously refined to ensure reliable development workflows, high product quality, and the secure handling of sensitive information.

The certifications shown below confirm that these processes meet internationally recognized standards.

A certificate indicating ISO 9001 certification for a company, featuring the ISO logo prominently. The document outlines the company’s compliance with quality management standards and is valid until February 10, 2029. The certificate includes contact information and certification details at the bottom.

ISO 9001: Quality Management

This certification reaffirms our commitment to continuous improvement and a strict focus on customer satisfaction. We constantly optimize our workflows to deliver products that "simply work."
