Our safety-certified RTOS is available in two versions. Both include certification evidence for standards such as IEC 61508 SIL3, IEC 62304 Class C, and ISO 26262 ASIL D.
embOS-Classic-Safe
Safety-certified RTOS for functional safety applications
embOS-Classic-Safe is based on the proven embOS-Classic RTOS and is designed for use in safety-related systems. It is developed and maintained under a controlled safety process.

embOS-Ultra-Safe
Cycle-accurate RTOS with functional safety support
embOS-Ultra-Safe combines the cycle-resolution timing and tickless architecture of embOS-Ultra with the requirements of safety-critical applications.

API compatibility
embOS-Ultra-Safe is API-compatible with all other embOS variants, allowing existing applications and software components to be reused with little or no modification.
Safety documentation
RTOS certification is quick and easy with the included certificate. All necessary documents are on hand, including the certificate itself and a comprehensive embOS safety manual.

How embOS-Safe works
embOS-Safe provides a pre-certified RTOS, reducing the effort required to develop safety-critical systems. While certification of the complete application remains the responsibility of the product manufacturer, the supplied certificate, safety manual, and supporting documentation simplify the process.
SEGGER's dedicated functional safety team continuously maintains the certification and enables rapid support for new processor cores, compiler versions, and additional functional safety standards.
Licensing
The software is available under various embedded software license models and can be delivered as source code. All commercial licenses are based on a one-time payment, are royalty-free, and include six months of updates and support from SEGGER’s Embedded Experts.
There are no subscription fees, ensuring predictable and fixed costs over the entire product lifetime.
For non-commercial use, evaluation, and educational purposes, the software is provided under SEGGER’s Friendly License.
