Security regulations and the Cyber Resilience Act
SEGGER offers professional solutions that enable customers to successfully develop CRA-conformant products.

Overview
Cybersecurity regulations, such as the European Union’s Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), the Radio Equipment Directive (RED), and the Network and Information Security Directive 2 (NIS2) aim to increase the security and resilience of products, supply chains, and related updates and support. These directives shift responsibilities toward manufacturers, and they define requirements for bringing products to market. The CRA and its upcoming standards affect almost every digital product — from consumer electronics to industrial machinery.
Software is a critical element in digital products, especially in embedded systems. In order for manufacturers to comply with CRA requirements, it is more important than ever to choose high-quality, secure software components.
SEGGER offers professional solutions that enable customers to successfully develop CRA-conformant products. From technical documentation and software bills of materials (SBOMs), to long-term maintenance agreements and support, to safety and security, The Embedded Experts have you covered.
All SEGGER embedded software components, such as embOS, emFile, and emNet, and collectively emPower OS will meet CRA requirements and provide security-related software components needed to future-proof embedded systems. SEGGER's product development philosophy and more than 30 years of experience in providing market-tested and -proven products make emPower OS the standout choice for digital products.
What is emPower OS?
The all-in-one software platform for digital products
SEGGER's embedded operating system, emPower OS, includes all software components for modern embedded systems. The RTOS, communication and connectivity stacks, GUI library, file system and compression library, security algorithms protocols, and further products offer a robust, and versatile operating environment for developers aiming to create reliable and efficient embedded systems across all industries.
emPower OS is a complete solution, yet it also allows developers to mix and match with a variety of third-party software components.
What SEGGER offers
SBOMs and technical documentation
emPower OS and each of its related products will include an SBOM, which enables manufacturers to identify all of the components that they might include in their product. SBOMs are helpful for identifying dependencies with internal and third-party components, and they also provide identifiers for all components, which facilitates vulnerability monitoring with common vulnerability databases, such as CVE and EUVD.
SEGGER also provides extensive technical documentation (including user guides and application notes) for all embedded-software products. Technical documentation helps manufacturers carry out risk assessments and threat modeling, and it provides interface descriptions and best practices. In addition, test reports and analysis results can be provided as additional packages.
Long-term maintenance and support
SEGGER’s Embedded Experts work continuously to enhance, improve, and resolve issues with SEGGER products. In addition to providing standard agreements that cover support and updates, SEGGER will offer long-term service (LTS) agreements that provide manufacturers with security patches for the full lifespan of their products.
Training and services
SEGGER offers training sessions and workshops to assist manufacturers on issues regarding product compliance and conformity when using emPowerOS.
