SEGGER introduces JTAG isolator for J-Link

SEGGER Microcontroller, a manufacturer of software and hardware for embedded systems, announced today the availability of a JTAG isolator.

"Our company got numerous requests to provide a solution that allows optical isolation between the emulator and target system ", said Robert Teufel, COO at SEGGER. "With the new JTAG isolator for J-Link, we can now offer an off-the-shelve solution."

When the development tools are not connected to the same ground as the application, an isolator can help to avoid undesired effects that can be cause by ground coupling. The isolator is also useful to protect the development tools from electrical spikes that often occur in some applications, such as motor control applications. High speed JTAG communication is supported with 4 Mbit/s as the upper limit to not slow down debugging. Pricing was set to 198 Euro.
