Hilden, Germany . November 5- 2007-SEGGER Microcontroller GmbH & Co.KG, one of the leading embedded software manufacturers, today
announced that its software product tool chain—including embOS,
the powerful easy to use RTOS; emWin, the very efficient GUI; and emFile,
the high performance file system - is now available for the new PIC32
family of 32-bit microcontrollers from Microchip Technology Inc. [NASDAQ:
MCHP], a leading provider of microcontroller and analog semiconductors.
This builds off the companies’ strong partnership, which includes
embOS debugging capabilities in Microchip’s MPLAB® Integrated
Development Environment (IDE) toolchain and SEGGER support of Microchip’s
16-bit microcontroller and Digital Signal Controller (DSC) product lines.
The trial packages can be used free of charge for evaluation purposes.
"It is a great opportunity to be Microchip's partner
for today's market introduction of the new PIC32 family. Microchip revolutionized
the microcontroller business with easy-to-use, yet powerful, microcontrollers.
SEGGER has established itself as a major player for middleware, supporting
efficient programming of embedded microcontrollers," said Robert Teufel,
COO at Segger Microcontroller Systeme in Hilden, Germany.
"The processing power of the PIC32 family, coupled with
the low-overhead design of embOS, ensures that customers have plenty of
processing power for their application software," said Patrick Johnson,
director of Microchip's High Performance Microcontroller Division.
The fully featured multitasking embOS provides a migration
path, with 100% identical APIs, across the new PIC32 32-bit MCU family,
as well as Microchip's 16-bit PIC24 MCU and dsPIC33 DSC families. With
debugging capabilities built into the free Microchip MPLAB IDE, embOS
provides a free viewer that allows engineers to look into the system from
the PC (including profiling). embOS is available in object and source
code form, and comes as a single-developer license with no project limitations.
Additional developer licenses and TCP/IP stacks can be purchased. embOS
is royalty-free, and comes with six months of technical support and free
updates. For more information contact sales@segger.com..
emWin, the most efficient and comprehensive GUI available,
is written in ANSI C, and supports any display controller and display.
Besides the basic graphics libraries, emWin provides an array of complementary
products, such as the Simulator, Font Converter or Bitmap Converter, which
save significant amounts of time during development. Even with the wide
variety of capabilities included in emWin, it is a highly efficient stack.
To ensure the application does not extend past system memory requirements,
only the elements of the emWin library that are selected will be used
at compile time
