SEGGER releases embOS Plug-in for IAR Embedded Workbench
Hilden, Germany – 7th November 2005, SEGGER, one
of the leading embedded tools manufacturers, provides “Kernel Awareness”
for IAR Embedded Workbench.
The Kernel Awareness module, which will be part of the
embOS shipment, visualizes kernel information and provides embOS application
engineers all benefits of an integrated debug environment. From within
IAR Embedded Workbench the internal data structures, such as tasks, timers,
semaphores, mailboxes etc. can be monitored. The result is an enhanced
debug capability that helps minimizing application development time. The
installation procedure is easy and convenient; the plug-in can be downloaded
and used at no charge.
“The embOS plug-in adds important new functionality
to our products and proves that the open architecture of IAR Embedded
Workbench is of great benefit to our customer. We are delighted that users
of so many popular chip architectures now can take advantage of the embOS
RTOS,” says Mats Ullström, Product Director at IAR Systems.
Requirements:
For a complete compatibility, the use of embOS version 3.28 (or higher)
and the IAR Embedded Workbench IDE with C-SPY Version 4.3 (or higher)
is recommended. It can be used for all CPUs for which embOS and IAR Embedded
Workbench are available such as ARM, Renesas M16C, M32C, H8S, NEC V850,
K0, K4, TI MSP430.
About embOS:
embOS, a small and efficient real-time kernel, supports all common 8/16/32-bit
CPUs and has become one of the most popular kernel, providing on all CPUs
the benefits of a fully featured multitasking system by 100% identical
APIs. Its small memory footprint makes it also suitable for single-chip
applications. embOS is available as source or object code, royalty-free,
and comes with 6 months of free technical support and updates. A ready
to go start project and embOSView (profiling support) is included.
About IAR Embedded Workbench
IAR Embedded Workbench (EW), the C/Embedded C++ cross compiler and debugger,
is the most complete and easy-to-use set of development tools for professional
embedded applications available today. IAR Embedded Workbench offers the
same intuitive user interface, a truly integrated development environment,
regardless of the microprocessor you have chosen to work with - coupled
with complete and target-specific support for each and every chip.
About SEGGER Microcontroller Systeme
SEGGER Microcontroller GmbH & Co.KG develops and distributes software
development tools and ANSI "C" software components (middleware) for embedded
systems in several industries such as telecom, medical technology, consumer
electronics, automotive industry and industrial automation. Main products
are emWin, a universal graphics software for embedded applications, embOS,
a small realtime kernel and emFile, an embedded file system. emWin, written
entirely in ANSI "C", can easily be used on any CPU and basically any
display. It is complemented by the available PC tools: Bitmap converter,
Font converter, VNC server, Simulation and Viewer. SEGGER's intention
is to cut software development time for embedded applications by offering
compact, flexible and easy-to-use middleware allowing developers to concentrate
on their applications.
